David Van Horn

David Van Horn (Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania) has many seasons of field experience in the U.S. and in the Old World (Italy and Greece). Since 1976, he has directed his own cultural resource management firm in California. His work in contract archaeology convinced him that modern salvage archaeology required improved methods of excavating large samples rapidly, and he developed several practical and economical means for using machines, all of which have been successfully applied in site excavations.
