Clement W. Meighan (Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley) was involved in public and contract archaeology for more than 40 years. He served for 8 years on California's Historical Resources Commission and performed contract archaeology on all levels, from field labor to supervisor and principal investigator. Observation of many mistakes made by those entering the consultant/contract areas of archaeology led to this book of advice for students and newcomers.
